    Tip,

Argue with the physics people. The higher the temp the more of the shorter wavelenths ae present and the shorter wave lengths have ALWAYS been referenced as being cool as the shorter eave lengths which produce the orange light are referenced as warm. Unless someone starts rewriting physics text books I am not sure how you can refer to these terms as wrong. They are the proper way the entire lighting AND science world reference light.

NO, No, No, and once again for those who don’t seem to understand the answer is No.

The cases you list fall into the class of parody and sarcasm, which typically have always fallen into the fair use grouping. You can use whatwever music you wish since the chances of getting sued are rather small. Just remember all it takes is your client to send a copy to Aunt Martha who has a neighbor who watches it with her one evening, and that neighbor happens to work for ABC record company who released the song. Strange things like this are what usually catch small producers and then you get “the letter”.

It galls me to no end when people who create things for a living suggest that it should be ok to just lift someone elses creative work. If you create a wonderful opening to use in front of your weddings, say using different shots of churches, flowers, wedding bells, whatever, how would you feel if I just lifted it and put in on my work? Fair use right?

October 29, 2005 at 5:38 pm in reply to: Rumors of $1000 US for 8Gig P2 cards

“It was not straight forward to obtain a PC laptop with a firewire port on it”
sure it is, i can’t remember the last time I saw a new one that didn’t,
as long as your not trying to shop in the bargin basement

“Firewire in the PC world is simply not as elegant as it is in the MAC environment”
once again, sure it is, when you stop shopping at the $1000 best buy level,
Buy the tool for the job, It alwasy amazes me the people who spend 3 grand on a
Power Book and then try and compare the performance of a budget office PC, and say
see I told you they couldn’t do it.

“The CF cards for these applications are not reliable, develop dud sectors very quickly and constantly have format issues due to the high sustained data rates. The failure rate is too high to be acceptable”
Not where I’ve been, never seen those kinds of problems with the cards.
but then again, you offered nothing but your word.

    Grame,

I knokw at times Iomega had seroius quality control issues with who ever was doing their manufactoring. I would hope that Thompson is holding them to a higher standard, if not it wil be bad for both of them.

I have no doubt Panassonic is fully commited to the P2 format. They have stepped out on a limb with what they believe the future to be. A faliure of P2 I am sure would not only have a substantial financial downside would but would create a huge embarrasment for the company that would last years.

    Oh yeah, they are commited.

Since Apple helped build the factory, I am sure this has a bearing on the price Apple is paying. I am not sure anyone else would get that price from Samsung. Also, since Apple helped pay for the factory I think the output was intended for their use from the start.
