I did indeed stumble upon this thread! I’m looking to build a text with a background shape that scales appropriately, much like this one, but what I’m trying to do is have the background shape path scale down, and center on the remaining text when a layer is set to 0 opacity (checkbox/(0,1)) Layer on, larger text box. Layer off, smaller textbox. Does this make sense? (my eyes are crossing as I try to wrap my heaad around this one)

I am using motion 4, but am kind of a Newb at it… I don’t really know anything about parameter linking…

Care to walk me through the steps?

I guess I wrote incorrectly when I said I was having scaling issues. I’m actually having issues with the font size not scaling. When I raise the font size it only scales up from the baseline… I see no change when I mess around with the position settings under the text layout tab…

Layout method is “Type”
Alignment – Center
Justification – None
Anchor Point – Line
Position – x=0, y=0, z=0

Have you discovered a way to align text on the y-axis in motion without adding a camera? So that when you adjust the scale of the text in a FCP template it doesn’t scale up from the baseline but scales up from the middle of the word (and downwards for that matter)?
