    I’m using FCP 6. If it recompresses, then I guess I’ll just deal with the right-click->open with method that was mentioned, which is what I’ve been doing. I just thought there might be an easy setting change or something that would turn it off.

    I’ve been using Export to Quicktime Movie (self-contained). I’ll try “using quicktime conversion” from now on. There’s no difference between them (assuming I’m talking about self-contained)?

    Any idea why the codec doesn’t seem to even work in windows for anything besides WMP (and perhaps Vegas Studio, which doesn’t export to HD in my version)?

    That’s great, except these are all QT codecs, and I can open my wmv file in QT to convert.

    Ok, then can you tell me what format I should convert my HD video into? What’s good for use in FCP? I’ll need something I can create in windows and copy over, preferably a format that doesn’t take 3 years to do over USB, but I don’t want my video to look like crap after editing, etc.
