I know this is really old, but I just had the same thing happen! I never lose files and am careful to back up, but in this case, it just didn’t work out. I can’t find the file anywhere on my computer and I definitely didn’t delete it. I’ve worked for weeks on the project, and now all of sudden it says it’s gone and I can’t find it anywhere on my system. It was only after I opened and worked with the multi cam clips. Please help if you have any information…. my project is due today, Wednesday! Ahhh!! It’s really a problem that final cut just randomly did this. Thanks.

That sounds like a good idea. I may have to do that. I am building a logo in after effects that is already in Illustrator. I’m just trying to match the gradients how the designers made it. Not sure I trust my eye. Thanks for the idea.

  • I know this is an old thread, but I didn’t quite find my answer here. What did work for me was right clicking the clip that didn’t have stabilization in the timeline and selecting reveal in event browser. This highlighted only the portion of the clip I was using in my edit. I dragged that (the yellow highlighted part) to that clip in my timeline. Options pop up and I selected replace from start. This replaced the clip without changing the length of in and out points of the clip. I selected the clip and now it shows the stabilization option.
