  • Is your your USB drive formatted to FAT32. If so you will have a 4GB limit on your file size.

Believe it or not, 60i is the norm for projects that I edit day in and day out. It is what the clients are asking for.

As long as there is a market for 1080 60i sony will make a camera for it.

My personal T2i rig is set at 24p and the footage looks amazing on my 24″HD CRT monitor.

Straight ProRes here as well. Unless I need to pull a matte, I see no advantage in using unnecessary disk space and processing power.

If you have clients that request the (HQ) flavor for film output ect. then you have it available.

  • In your menu settings, turn off Highlight tone priority. I am able to shoot with the same lens in low light at iso800 with little noise.

Are you editing in DV timeline?

You may want to wait to edit till you are able to transcode the footage to Prores codec. In the meantime you can offload your cards to your hard drive and take log notes and rough together an EDL for when you get to your suite.

Avoid the AIC if at all possible.

I started to layout a workflow and just realized you were using FCP 5.1.

Are you editing while at camp or will you cut once you are back and have access to a suite with a newer version of FCP?

When I dump the card into a folder and then try to open the folder in Log and Transfer i get this msg.

“100CANON” contains unsupported media or has an invalid directory structure. Please choose a folder whose directory structure matches supported media.

How are you dumping the card?

“Each card Dump goes into its own folder, each fold has a unique name that becomes the REEL name within FCP. The Card is then just copied into the folder with the exact structure as the card, only the Volume level is not copied.”

I have 2 full cards from this weeks shooting that I am going to try the above workflow with, right now. thanks for the tip.
