Can you buy and use Celluloid without purchasing Ultimate S? The description is a little confusing, as it “plugs into” Ultimate S, but doesn’t say whether it needs to or what the advantage is using Ultimate S.

Interesting. I can always make my own, but having a nice little fold out card is always handy until you get the hang of the functions you use most.

Did you get the full size paper-type box with your upgrade, or the smaller plastic shell-type? I got the smaller plastic shell case with my upgrade, and no shortcut card, I’m bummed.
Maybe I can contact Sony and get them to send me one?! -
I got the Pro 8 upgrade, so I think they don’t give you one I guess. 🙁
I found them in the Manual, but a handy card/pamphlet like I got with Pro Tools would have been great.

I’d like to say that I too did the B&H deal and now have Vegas 8 Pro running. I’m glad i did. Unfortunately for me I live in New York and paid about $21 in tax and shipping, but still for about $202 I got Vegas 8 Pro. Thanks for the tip Sebastian!

I could swear I tried that but didn’t get any good results, but I’ll try it again tonight. Thanks!

Is the poor conversion basically a mathematical one in some respects? like 50 losing every other frame, and 25 being very close to 24 to begin with? And 30 kind of having to lose 6 or so?
Maybe I’m overthinking it.
I’m just trying to get the closest I can to a more film-like look with my budget Panasonic GS80 camcorder. (have my eyes on a Panasonic DVX100b in the future!).

Thanks for the continued replies.
I think tonight I’m going to install the Pro trial and use it on my home system, give it a good runthru, try to do some audio work on it (i’m an audio person primarily so the audio features of Pro really appeal to me).
I use Pro Tools and Sony Sound Forge as well but it’d be nice to have some good audio tweaking abilities right in Vegas.
What sort of things would unlimited tracks let me do? Layering and setting up effects? I’m somewhat new to advanced video editing so I’m not sure why I’d need more than 4 video tracks (as an audio guy, I can certainly see why I’d need more than 4 audio tracks though! 🙂 )

I definitely am not doing HD at this point. I am using a basic Panasonic GS80 MiniDV camcorder.
Doing mostly music videos for bands, but would like to start working on some short film projects as well. This is where I’m curious if PRO would give me more tools for adding sound effects, better editing tools, I’m just speculating because I never messed around with PRO.
Maybe I should install the PRO trial and take a look around. Do you know if you can install two different versions on your computer at once?

Also wanted to ask…
Does your DVD Architect 4.5 work? Someone had mentioned Vegas6 didn’t include that so they weren’t sure how the upgrade path worked for that.
