why? If you want to left justify the name
John Smith on one line using 2 text boxes
and then change the next example to
Alexander Vinokourov
the text box for the last name Smith, if left in place, would be overlapped by the ‘nder’ in Alexander. It’s simply one of the most basic things you’d want to do with a template. I gather that it’s actually a limitation of FCP, perhaps a limit to the way Motion was integrated with it.

The switch is in the comp window? where? Layer – track matte – alpha is what I indeed wanted, but I didn’t know there was a switch in the comp window. i don’t see it anywhere (choose it from the menu)
