Thanks guys for the great responses! I have another edit session tomorrow with the client and I will definitely try each of these suggestions in order to ‘get the right feel’.

The interviews (or better yet, testimonies) are edited in a way to ‘pull the heart-strings’ (slow piano in background). The video details a program that tries to reach kids before they end up in jail. It’s been very successful, but is in need of financial support. The video is due Friday for the boards feedback!

Thanks again & I will try and report back on the results.

I guess I should have mentioned this will be for a small studio. Also, the price range you mentioned….what does that actually include?

I am glad to see you say, “…hire a reputable company to properly do the project.” I made a similar statement to my Director. I mentioned I did not want to piece-meal this project and for such a long term project, we need to have it done right.
    Thanks for the reply.

    [Steve Wargo] “Education is Education

Read “Not For Profit”, “No private Enterprise”.

Besides, if you can’t afford the full software package, I’d say you’ve got problems already.

Besides, Educational Software can not be upgraded.

Education price also equals Government price. As far as upgrades go, you wouldn’t upgrade the “education” version. You would simply purchase the new version at the “education” price. You come out cheaper doing it like that anyways. Also, what is meant by “if you can’t afford the full software package, I’d say you’ve got problems already.?”

My copy of FCS would only be used for Government use…thanks for the heads up though!

November 27, 2005 at 12:52 am in reply to: Basic lighting kit

Our budget should allow for several light kits. To be more specific, we will need light kits to conduct interviews (simple setup…just me). Possible studio lights for boardroom where Commissioners meet (TV friendly look is a must). Also, I will need a light for the DVCam or DVCPro camera (leaning towards DVCam).Any ideas???

What sort of setup do you guys have? Space is an issue for us at this time. Also, the budget is around $1.5 mil. That includes the new cameras/equipment for new boardroom & other “get us going in the broadcast arena”. They even mentioned giving the cable station a tape (Beta/VHS) with our programming & letting them run the tape on a daily basis. Kinda gives you an idea of expectations. There is a lot to think about & right now, it’s just me and my Director of Communications. It is very early in the process. I am headed to the Govt Video Conf. in DC to check out equipment. Thanks for the continued insights.

Most County meetings last 3 hours or so. I have used DVcam in the past but thought maybe going with DVCPro (any huge difference?). Final Cut Pro was a definite (IT Dept. seems to have issues dealing with Macs, so we will see). I will check out the Xdcam! Thanks
