    The uncompressed avi files might be choking your system, especially if you’re trying to watch them in quicktime. So it might be a playback problem.

    Also, AE isn’t the best for compressing. Can you go out uncompressed in QT and then compress it down to your youtube settings using a compression application?

    And on a totally different note, try adding a little bit of motion blur to your animation. That often gets rid of judder.

    Use 30 fps. Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe that is the max for youtube. 24 fps is if you wanted to go to film (you might get a judder problem with some animations if at 24 fps). Wikipedia gives a pretty good overview of it all. For web use, 30fps is pretty standard.

    Where will your animation be used? Web, TV, film release etc?

    Is the shudder consistently in the same place each viewing?
    What codec are you using?
    What is your system config?

    If its random, it might just be that your system can’t decompress the final file fast enough for a smooth viewing.

    If you compress your final file to a smaller format, does the playback smooth out?

    Right, I wouldn’t necessarily ditch the motion blur. It often adds realism to movement. Your settings might be just a little high. Turn on your motion blur preview, then under the Advanced tab in Composition settings, change shutter angle to around 100. Play with that setting until you like what you see. Or turn off motion blur on all your layers.

    But you have motion blur turned on for all your text layers. Read my last post, I’m pretty sure that’s your problem.

    What might be happening is that you have layer’s motion blur checkbox activated, but you have the global motion blur setting for the comp turned off. Then when you go to render, the default for motion blur under Render Settings is “On for Checked Layers”.

    If that isn’t it, look at your DOF settings. Also, do you only have one camera in the comp?

    Also, I wouldn’t actually flip it on the y axis. Just cut from one to the other.
