Videocopilot.net check out Pro scores cd. Cost about $100 layered tracks, individual design elements, or try shockwave-sound.com they have some good cd mixes or individual tracks for sale. If you’re looking to create something with more layered music, check out Sonicfire Pro.

Thanks for the help guys, the one thing I did notice with this way is that there is no deck control with Final Cut, I’m guessing, you only get VTR control with Firewire? Either way, the HD-SDI connetion is working great.

Yes, I’ve been capturing with the Prores codec, just wanting to know if its better to capture via HD-SDI output from the deck to the blackmagic card, or Straight firewire from the deck to the computer?

I’m importing HDV video from Mini DV tape with the Prosres codec, the Raid disk is brand new, still about 400gb left on it. I’m running the ‘fast raid’ which is more built for speed than protection. We’re running HD/SDI out to the blackmagic card, nothing connected via firewire but the drive itself.

I have a Blackmagic Decklink HD Extreme card. We have it connected to the deck but not the monitor yet. As I understand you cannot control the deck through HD-SDI cable? What are the best presets to use to import video into Final Cut, via the codecs? And can we hook the monitor up straight through the HDMI output on the card? thank you.

Thanks a lot, I work in HDV and am trying different codecs to get the right results, So far Pro res from FCP has been working really well. My main problem was the memory and MP preferences in AE but you cleared that up nicely. In FCP can Pro Res import 4 channels of audio? I noticed when I import HDV using the pro res codec it goes straight to capturing without any options for audio channels. Also, I have a Blackmagic card and am just starting to run through all the codecs, anything in those settings that’s better than pro res for HDV video?

When importing as pro res, I noticed there is no capture screen to choose if you want 4 audio channels or not it just says to name the clip and captures after you click ok, can Pro Res or the intermediate codec capture 4 channels of audio? If so How?

That worked! Thanks, I guess I didn’t play around with the codecs enough, thought it might be a performance issue. Would you also suggest importing all my HDV footage as apples Pro Res or Intermediate codec into final cut?

Well I tried file > export > image sequence and it worked, but if I try > composition > make movie, none of the codec’s have worked so far, The problem is the comp does not freeze in the exact same spot, but the same area (within 10frames) so its hard to tell exactly where the problem is. the whole comp is made up of about 15 other pre-comps so I have an idea of which I’m having trouble with, just not an exact frame. I’ll keep trying to diagnose the problem, thanks for the quick reply….
