Hi Chuck
Briefly ,you need to make sure that you have given your USD-Fields an Name , basically a Field Set , you will see that under field definitions , you can have any number of them , then goto your Catdv Control Panel and under Server ( from memory ) you will see a place to type in which so ever one you want to use , this then defines the web stuff. Also check out the documentation supplied to get a more in depth explanation ..

Hi Lindsay
this is what I was thinking of , should allow you to handle the mxf natively within Catdv by extending Qtime

HI Lindsay
regarding your Ikegami mxf issue you should check out Telestream . They have a codec for this . I used it seamlessly a couple of years back when I was working on their Infinity camera. From re-collection , it should give you what you want ,

I remember that I did some work with Thompson on their Infinity camera. From memory I was using a Telestream product which gave me native Iki support ..Check out their website . It should offer you the other third of the workflowKevin

I suggest you check out CALIBRATED SOFTWARES products ( calibrated software.com ) . This in conjunction with our MXF option will allow you to import natively the Avid files and then you can generate proxies from within Catdv. The proxy does not have to be lo-res, it can be whatever you wish it to be. However you can then tag the assets within Catdv and even use the AVID files natively within Premiere ! This will save you an awful lot of work .I would also suggest you upgrade to version nine.
hope this helps

Hi Sava
publishing as Administrator does no harm, though its not good practice :)- Hence the warning. You can change it with the bulk edit command. Catdv tracks who published each catalog so it can enforce permissions and access to catalogs .2. No what you did was fine but did you save the Preferences to the server so that they stick. Right click on the production group in the tree and SAVE GROUP SETTINGS (from memory )
hope this helps

HI Whitney
what you want to do is select assets in browser , then go file Export Movies . You then goto a tabbed dialog pane. Choose your compression settings then goto the second tab for Batch options .Select exact names and all of your movies will be transcoded and named as you want as a batch . There are also a couple of extra options available that you may find usefulKevin Duggan

HI Nick
to answer your points 1-6 Yes to all . Native workflows can be achieved with the addition of Calibrated Softwares codecs and our MXF option. The Product matrix is on our website. Matt Stamos of JB&A can get you demo codes and give you the pricing , which depends very much on what suits your needs.Hope this helps
