try setting the ‘shape’ of the movement for zoom forward (animator>>range selector>advanced>shape). try setting ramp down to ramp up… is that what you are looking for?

hey, if there’s money in it, i’m in….

try the rss feeds… the have rss feeds for ae tutorials, articles and others, and they are in chronological order…

the easy way to make slight tweaks to the duration of the credit roll (or text crawl) would by to make slight adjustments to the scale…. if you credit list (or line of text for a crawl) is very long, a 1-2% change in scale may decrease the number pixels enough to shorten the duration needed for the move.

i have a correction to my suggestion… you won’t be able to use a mask, you will need to precomp the footage and then change the comp size (of the precomp) to be small enough to crop out the black edge of the footage. when you precomp choose to leave all attributes in the main comp…
there is an advantage to this method, it should work equally as well after you have applied the stabilization.

try applying a mask to crop out the black edges (note, it may be easier to do this prior to stablilizing the motion, but you can try it now any way). then try motion tile to expand the edges of the video to make the edges of the video less noticeable. set the output height and width so the video fills the screen and set mirror edges on.
you’ll still be able to notice the edges, but in many cases it does a very good job of hiding them.

oops, let’s try that again…
you can check out roland’s tutorial too. he shows how to use shatter way back on ae5.
i’m not familiar with the ads you mentioned, but you may be able to create this effect in ae with an expression, a null and duplicating the text layer…
create a null, make it 3d and add a slider control setting the value to 1 (don’t change the names of the null of the slider, at least not yet). create you text layer, make it 3d and paste this expression in the position property:
z = index * thisComp.layer(“Null 1”).effect(“Slider Control”)(“Slider”);
thisComp.layer(“Null 1”).transform.position + [0,0,z]add a comp camera and rough in a camera position to give you an angle that can show z-depth. then duplicate you text layer… as you duplicate the layer, you should start to see it ‘extrude.’ you will probably want to set the text attributes for the ‘face’ layer to be different from the extruded layers, so you can read it. animating the slider value will animate the extruding. the positions of all the text layers are linked to the null, so repositioning the null will move all layers. you may want to just parent the layers to the null, thta way scale, rotation, etc. are all linked to one layer for manipulation. if you do that, modify the expression to:
z = index * thisComp.layer(“Null 1”).effect(“Slider Control”)(“Slider”);
value + [0,0,z]that will unlink the position to the null in the expression since the parenting will accomplish the same result….
it’s is kind of crude, and there are limitations, but it may work for what you are looking for.
you could also do a ‘cell’ style animation using illustrator to create your text and extrusion, expanding the vectors, releasing them to layers, importing the file as comp, then sequencing the layers. it could be effective if you can create the look you want in illustrator, which can do flat faux perspective ppretty well.

ok, thanks to aharon’s odometer tutorial (and dan helping aharon), i learned a new function… ‘%’… returning just the remainder of a division problem… which gave me exactly what i need, so i did’nt need to account for the number of loops prior to stopTime….
loopDuration = key(numKeys).time – key(1).time;
stopTime = thisComp.layer(“Null 1”).effect(“Slider Control”)(“Slider”);
if (time < stopTime) { loopOut() }else{ valueAtTime(stopTime % loopDuration) } i know i said it before, but this should work (...er... third times a charm, right...?) Kevin Camp Designer – KCPQ, KMYQ & KRCW -
sorry guys, i’m playing around with this one again this morning, and it only seems to work to stop the loop in the right spot for the second loop, if it is any loop after that it stops at the last position of the loop….
i seem to be having problems accounting for the number of loops prior to stopTime, then adding the fraction of the loop.
i have some time today, i think i can get this…
