    I must say, if log & capture is not included in FCP X, it is a deal breaker for me. I edit the AMA Supercross show for CBS & SPEED. We take the signal from the production truck and cut the show down to time. We usually have 7 hours from racing to uplinking to the network. In that time, we also have to output the show to DVCPRO-HD. There is not time to add any other steps in the process.

    September 25, 2010 at 5:54 pm in reply to: Come on AJA Firmware 2!

    I did e-mail AJA and got an arrogant response similar to the \”summer is not over so our prediction is still good\”. I don\’t have problem waiting for a bug free update but don\’t say it will be released and not expect comments when you miss that date. BTW, when I bought my KI Pro, I was told that it would have 8 channels of audio embedded. When I called about it only having 2 channels of audio, I was told it would work very soon. Seven months later, it still sits being unused because of the audio capabilities.

    Why don\’t you say from the beginning that it will be released in September instead of giving a 4 month window (which, as if it needs to be mentioned, you missed)

    I did do a mix down, it didn’t help. The slugs were the only thing that would help & it instantly fixed it.

    Do you have any blank parts in the video tracks your timeline? As an example, after bars and slate, some people leave a blank 5 sec instead of filling with a slug. I have found on FCP 3, the audio will drift if you do this and lip sync will be off on the KONA Output only, monitoring thru the computer would be in sync.

    September 26, 2008 at 5:49 am in reply to: Setting up 5.1 surround to monitor in FCP

    I am in the same situation. I need to monitor Surround 5.1, preferably through headphones. Here are 2 items that will do it

    The Graham-Patten Sonarae
    https://www.gpsys.com/products/Sonarae.htm

    Is exactly what I need but is $4100 each & I need a minimum of 2.

    Or there is a Wohler rack-mount speaker that will monitor 8 channels of audio for $3700
    https://www.wohler.com/Details.aspx?ItemNumber=AMP2-S8DA

    The other option is to convert the AES/EBU audio to analog & send the audio to the spare 1604 & 1642 I have laying around

    What ever way I do it, it cost money that is not budgeted. Of course Surround 5.1 is brought up after the deal is done.

    Bob;

    This mixer has a USB interface. Could it be used to monitor the 8 channels out of a KONA 3? Would this show up on the audio playback selection on the A/V settings? If so, would all the audio tracks, up to the limit of the mixer, show up as individual tracks on the mixer? Sorry for the idiot questions as this is something where I am completely in the dark.

    I am trying to monitor Surround 5.1 thru headsets. The KONA 3 has AES/EBU out only. I am trying to avoid having to by 3 $3700 Wohler monitors.

    Thanks
    Kenyon
