Thats what I told everyone! But, who listens to the Editor? Anyway, thanks for your help on this!

Thanks! All the settings are good in final cut pro, I will try rendering the animation into ProRes. As far as the other thing, have you ever seen stepiness in 23.98 HD video footage durning slow pans? I’m trying to figure out if its just me, or if its a common issue. Thanks!

Thanks! I will speak with the QC/tech guy at the network to see which way they prefer to go. It really helps me going into that conversation with some ideas in mind.
So thanks again for your advice!

The newest version of Media 100 has xml interchange, so you could send it to FCP, then Automatic Duck to Avid (in theory). But I doubt they have the newest version of Media 100.

That sounds re-assuring. The song was composed for the show, and has no lyrics.
Thank you!

That was my instinct, but the Producer told me that he has sent this network a spot reel before, and that it should be okay. He doesn’t know how they dealt with the closed captioning though.
So, any technical insight about the closed captioning/insert picture edit works would help me tremendously.
Thank you again,

I don’t want to use both machines at the same time, I just want to be able to take work home with me on my MBPro. I don’t want to screw with the systems at work, and they don’t want to pay for upgrades from Xpress Pro 4.6. Its kind of annoying. Can I run Xperss Pro 4.6 and MC 2.8 on the same partition without conflicts?
Thanks again!!

I am running Media Composer 2.8 w/Mojo on Leopard 10.5.2 on a MacBook Pro with no problems. I’m also running MC 2.8 on the same machine in Vista through Parallels. I haven’t tried Bootcamp, but If it works in Parallels, I’m sure it will work in Bootcamp.

Thanks for this advice! great answer. It is what I thought people would say.. however! isn’t a Macbook Pro spec’d more closely to an Imac than Mac Pro? Save the expansion card slot, which I suppose is what you need for the drives. One e-sata slot on that Imac, and things would be alot different.
Also, I just started a job where I am editing on the company’s suites, old G5 Dual 2.0 w/Xpress Pro 4.6, 1 GB ram. Not very snappy.. So, decided to bring in my 2.2 GHZ Macbook Pro, 4 GB Ram w/ Media Composer 2.8 on LEOPARD w/Lacie FW 800 drive! Since the MBP is not my main system, I’m willing to take a little risk running the alternate Leopard configuration. Turns out it works perfectly, no issues at all. I even attached the Mojo for fun and that works too. Not bad for a computer and OS that are not supported. In case anyone was curious.
Also, I’ve never really had a preference for Avid or FCP, like driving different cars takes time to adjust, but will get you to the same place in the end. But this time after 8 months on FCP, now over to MC 2.8, I really miss FCP. Less keystrokes, everything I need to do seems closer at hand on FCP. Especially not having to switch modes every 2 seconds appeals to me, FCP seems to do it automatically. It will be interesting to see how I feel next time I have to switch back after months on Avid. It would be cool to hear how other people feel about this, any takers? Heres another one, has anyone used to new Media 100 versions? I used to cut on Media 100 and had a love/hate relationship with it. But now that it has more than one video track it would be interesting to see how it stands up. Thanks for your thoughts!
Happy Cutting!
