FYI I got a Kona LHe with a breakout box on ebay for $750. There are deals out there on good used gear in this market.

That’s good to know. And tuna is a good choice because no matter what HDV, I mean tuna, is wrapped in it can start to smell.

I tested Media 100HD software and it does transcode XDCAM to whatever you have it set for including Pro Res (since it can’t edit native HDV) so if I think there will be a problem I will transfer my clips that way and import to FCP. (losing any metadata however)

I’ll try that, but I guess the issue is – The Sony transfer software converts the XDCAM mp4 into a .mov – does that quicktime still have long gop HDV issues or is it as good as Pro Res HQ?

I just had a similar problem and downloaded version 2.9 of the Sony transfer tool. I can now import clips even if they are not in a BPAV folder.

But it wont load just the MP4, the clip folder has to have all the xdcam files: BIM, SMI etc. in order to import.

Thanks guys for your help about the BPAV – but Version 2.9 totally solved it and individual clips can be moved without a BPAV folder if necessary! I can now move XDCAM clips to any backup drive and read and import them.

Maybe Media 100 should update their tutorial since it is pretty adamant about loading 2.7.

I just got a great price on a used AJA LH card and break out box on ebay. Less the 1/3 retail. There were several other AJA cards there last week. Might be a good place to start if you can’t find a turnkey system.

Unfortunately that is what I did and when I boot the other partition and open photoshop, Adobe gives me the error message about not being licensed.

I have been told that the max ram that we can have installed is 2GB. That was true with M100 i as well. The extra ram would crash the system, when removed the crashes stopped.

I currently have 2GB installed and am not having those kind of crashes but want to add more ram if that is not the problem..

I have experienced this problem as well on a sporadic basis and have found no cure. I also get this drop out in After Effects renders when rendering to M100 codec. I started rendering to the animation codec and seems to help.

I have no soultion but don’t think drive speed is an issue.
