Here’s a funny glitch for you. Tried it again. Imported 5 clips. Four are normal speed. One is slow-mo. All were shot at 60fps. Oi vey.

Ok, you were right. Avid DV codec worked just fine, no quality lost. I didn’t realize what it was actually for. I just saw the DV and got worried.

So I was able to import the clips and view them but here’s the problem. They are playing back at full-speed, no slow-motion.

The problem with the Avid DV codec is that it’s more compressed than the original footage.

Won’t play in quicktime unless I select “use Avid DV codec”. Solid black otherwise.

Just gave it a try. Video is solid black, audio is coming through though. Blast.

Giving it a try right now. There are a lot of settings for QTR. Thoughts on what those should be? Also, when importing, what encoding should I use?

Man, this is way too complicated.

I’ll do that and post some data on it. While I’m on the board….

    Dear Avid,
Please make it easier for me to import multiple frame rates. You answered my requests to streamline P2 workflow, and it worked. Kindly do the same for frame rates.
    Thanks!

Original footage is DVCPRO HD, if I export it at 1:1 will I still lose the resolution. Also, have any other ideas regarding a work around?

Sorry OP for hijacking your post.

Well, at this point I’m hanging. I’ve got six clips in 60fps that do not want to be friends with my 24fps project. If I start a new project, import the 60fps stuff, the export it to a 24fps quicktime, will I lose resolution. Also, will it be slow-mo?

I apologize, I misread your initial post. I assumed you were advising the OP not to shoot multiple frame rates.

Are you sure FCP doesn’t mix frame rates on the timeline? I could’ve sworn the last time I used FCP that we had mixed frame rates. I suppose I was mistaken.

Surely there is a way to do this in Avid.

I’m running into the same problems with footage from a P2 card. A couple of action shots were at 60 for slow-mo but the rest is 24.
