When in bypass, the thumbnails do update with color changes while the viewer and scopes do not, so this sounds familiar. The viewer would remain displaying no color correction. I wonder if some combo could be triggering this. I sometimes have stills get played when doing certain unrelated functions. Next time the problem happens, try hitting shift D to see if it fixes it.

Does the timeline still play fine? If so, could it be in bypass grade mode?

11.2.1 now fixes the issue.

Just hire a colorist. If it’s just for occasional jobs, it’s cheaper, higher quality, and more time efficient, allowing you to focus on getting the job done. Who needs that kind of stress?

It seems like a cross platform problem. Windows, Mac, and Linux. I wonder if it’s only on existing projects. I look forward to 11.2.1.

Could you use the “export missing clips EDL” function from the timeline (right click)?

If you instead create an EDL with the Scene Detector and preconform, then splitting and joining will work fine. That also gives you additional backup. I sometimes even save the Scenecut session.

I tried this as a test with “Save with Version” on the original version, but I couldn’t get it to ColorTrace the RAW Saturation and Color Temp changes (Clip Decoder setttings) for some reason.

I saw in Resolve 10.1 ColorTrace, they have a checkbox for “Version Camera Raw Settings,” so I tested ColorTracing a RED RAW shot with changed Saturation and Color Temp settings, but unfortunately, it still didn’t work. I’ll email tech support on this.

You could either use remote timelines that point to the color in the master timeline so that new timelines also point to the original color corrections, or do a color trace on the new project.
