No (Nigel), I’m not nesting projects (yet… still just getting my head around the whole Vegas experience in the first place). I can get the audio weirdness just listening to a single clip (er, event) on an otherwise empty timeline.

Okay, I’ll look more into busses. Thanks John.

Also, I already changed the range of the VU meter before I posed the question, so I guess the answer’s “no”, unless I described it wrong. I’m just trying to “see” the meters easier; they’re just really thin. Is there a way to display them maybe three or four times thicker than they are?

    Okay, two more audio questions:

    (1) I’m embarrassed to ask after all these years, but what exactly is the definition of a “bus”? Is it just the same as a “track”?

    and

    (2) Is there a way to widen the L&R display of the VU meter? They’re so thin it’s hard to see (especially) the yellow-to-red zone (that’s about my extent of audio knowledge… “Keep stuff in the yellow zone, and just kiss red a little if you have to.”)

    THANKS

I’ve got the same problem as Dale, and I’ve had it happen putting a music clip on a brand new, empty timeline. Typically plays to the end of the clip, then instead of the last few notes I’ll hear part of a VO from somewhere.

Vegas 10c is my first introduction and experience with Vegas on a new turnkey system. I’ve had the weird audio sporadically (but annoyingly frequently) since day one. I do have a USB3 port, but haven’t used it yet.

Please do let me know if you come upon a way to make this problem go away! I’m dreading it happening while one particular client is here…

Makes total sense now. I guess until the “resolution independent” feature really is such, I’ll start thinking in those terms. Thanks for the help!

John: So, actually, I should have said that I have a mixture of footage in 1920×1080/24p and some in SD 29.97, so I guess that’s why I figured as long as I have project settings set to one or the other (with final output to SD 29.97) I should make that my project settings (?). However, I just did a test render with project settings at the 1080/24p and all transitions were perfect.

Could you help me understand better the flaw in my (earlier) thinking?

    THANKS!

Okay, I kinda started suspecting that as soon as I wrote it.

Just trying to get used to ALL THESE FORMATS!

    (Thanks John)

Hey John– Yes, my project settings are SD NTSC 720×486/29.97fps, and the footage I’m using was shot 1920×1080 23.97fps. Everything else seems fine except the anomalies I’m seeing in the fades between footage (and, of course, my audio gremlins).

Yes, I’d call it a major problem. And, yes, mine seem to occur at the end of an audio clip… where a nice music ring-out should be I get a piece of some VO from god-knows-where. I’d love to know how to successfully deal with this, because it happens frequently enough that it’s completely maddening.
