Arty Black helped me with this one. He recommended to get a Y 6 pin splitter cable, like this one:

Contacted Caldigit, and they suggested I do a Repair disk permission using disk utility and presto, Davinci loads up. Now I have best of both worlds. USB 3 / Esata 6g and Davinci Resolve. Thanks again to Caldigit, BlackMagic and Creative Cow for helping out!!!!

Son of gun!!! Peter you were right. It was the caldigit usb 3 driver thats causing the issue. Uninstalled the driver and Davinci loads up fine. Reinstall the driver and Davinci crashes. Want to use usb 3 for some hard drives and uploading footage from my Canon 5d Mark 3 using usb 3 card reader. Will contact caldigit about this. Thanks for everyones help.

Running OSX 10.8 now and latest Davinci 8.2.2. Uninstalled program and installed latest version still same problem with “Checking Licence” only thing I can think of is I have installed a Caldigit usb 3 and esata card FASTA-6GU3 before Davinci stopped working. We have installed Davinci onto our macbook pro and the dongle works fine. So rules out the dongle.

Bill,

You were right! New quadro drivers installed finally. Took 4 attempts. Now I can select mercury engine settings. Not sure Chris if I have to change over slots since I can select it, so win for Davinci and Premiere.

Currently running OSX 10.8 and Cuda driver version is 4.2.10 there is a new update 5.0.17 but it wont install. Trying to figure the problem.

Hi Arty,

Finally got the cable and installed the 5870. Easy enough. But I don’t have the heavy fan noise from the quadro. Probably is a driver issue. I have the latest on the quadro.

Hi Arty,

Can you tell me how you setup the ATI 5870 and the Quadro 4000? I currently have an ATI 5770 in slot 1 and the Quadro 4000 in slot 2. How did you get around the power supply issues? I have an ATI 5870 which I want to put in but can only find information by using an external power supply to run the 5870.
