Okay, I did what you said, then the lashes came up white. I adjusted the fuzziness. When I hit save it came back to how it was before I did this. Also, am I supposed to hit save or load and if save, do I want greytone or black matte.

That sounds like it would work, but I’m pretty new to Photoshop CS2 or photoshop all together. I found the color range you was talking about. I’m going to try to do this step by step because I really have a feeling this is what I need to do. That is, if I can figure out what you said in your post. Not that you didn’t say anything right, everything is still foreign to me. I’m going to try it right now.
I can put this image on one of my webpages so you can see what I’m talking about if that would help also.
    Thank you!!!

    Hi
I thought this was really going to work and I did everything you said. I just painted over the eyelashes black. The I used the wand and clicked and this turned the background white. I then copied this background and tried to paste it into a transparent background, but it only pasted the white. Did I do something wrong?

I’m sorry. I don’t think I explained myself right. What I need is for the transparency that I received that has the lashes on it, its black background and white lashes. I need to be able to take these lashes and make them into brushes in photoshop, but I cannot select anything because the transparency is all merged together. I tried to invert so the background was white and the lashes were black, but I still couldn’t select any lashes to make a brush with. Does that make sense?

Hi. I’m sorry, but I didn’t understand your screen shot. Here’s a photo of the transparency with eyelashes. Here is a link where you can see the transparency with the eyelashes.

Wow, you said a mouthful. I printed out your instructions so I can see if I’ll be able to follow them. In the meantime, is there any way I can send you a photo so you can see what I’m talking about?
You are talking about alot of tools that I’ve never worked with. BUT, I need to learn because I’ve taken on some major retouching jobs with several photographers. Unfortunately, this project I have 54 pix’s to do and not only the background darkening, but he wants the alter removed. So, all of this by the weekend..YIKES!!
Thank you for replying. You def. sound like you know what your doing.

as for the drawing lines in a row, no, you don’t have to use dif. layers. I draw eyelashes, which are extremely close and I sometimes draw over another lash and this has never happened to me. This is odd.
