Sweet goodness. Thank you friend. I had no idea.

    Thanks guys.

I discovered that it wasn’t so much a Multicam issue. Sony cameras have time code issues apparently when coming throughfcpx which was reeking havoc. Ha. I had to watch a tutorial in Spanish to discover that but finally found the root of it. *I don’t speak Spanish.

    Thanks Tero. Heard.

What I find maddening right now is that the missing files currently aren’t a conform or transcode issue I don’t believe. The missing files are currently from a basic camera that I didn’t generate proxies from.

I don’t think its a transcode or proxy issue anymore. I think it’s a simple miscommunication with the file link. It won’t acknowledge a link between my original files in DaVinci Resolve.

If I let it run its own search, it’l even attach new files of the same name (old projects) and dump them into this new one in its place.

I don’t understand why the media pool won’t let me just click 2 files, unlink them from their source, and link new ones in. Why does it make me click command A and unlink everything. I just don’t understand the logic of working with these broad strokes.

    And sorry. I’m blatantly venting.

Thank you Tero> Appreciate the time and expertise.

I’m playing with that but it still seems very arbitrary about what files it will and won’t relink.

It populates MOST of the timeline but then won’t ackonlwedge some simple files. It actually seems to get a lot of stuff correct. Even the compound clips but I don’t understand why I can’t drop in simple video files and have them link up.

Any suggestions on how to override the file pathway? I just can’t make it recognize the simple stuff and DR seems arbitrary about how to override.

Clearly I’m just new but it’s cabin my head in currently.

    Currently pulling my hair out.

I have clips missing. I know what the clips are. I find the clips. Drop them into the media pool. Davinci doesn’t acknowledge them as a missing clip and instead adds them as new media. It seems to be arbitrary which clips it does this with as some of the neighboring clips arrive just fine.

    Any thoughts?

    Like I’m genuinely baffled here.

It seems like all the obvious workarounds are closed to me here.

    1. I try to take the whole fusion clip into color and use magic mask and it stops me.

    2. I try to copy and paste the clip I want into a new timeline, and for some reason the clip won’t come with me.

I don’t understand why it seems like all the obvious workarounds are non-functional.

    Sorry for griping. 🙂

    Thanks for this Brad.
I’m currently looking around for this.
All of the audio came directly off of the TV show episodes so I’m not currently sure what the sample rate is. Digging into specs that will hopefully clue me in.

Thanks guys, I’m playing with this but still getting the same result.

Just random buzzing that isn’t consistent across renders. Hmmmm.

  • Timely.
You might go watch Jesse driftwoods new video.
He was highlighting a fcpx plugin that actually did some impressive stuff with moving items around in final cut.

It’s a fifty dollar plugin called add motion that looks really promising.

  • In my experience, you aren’t going to get great results for this kind of thing inside of FCPX.

FCPX does some stuff well but it also wants to “help” on a lot of things and make decisions for you. It’s really designed for cutting up and rearranging clips, and when you get into more complex transforms and movements, you’re gonna experience a world of frustration.

This kind of stuff is better suited to Motion where you can control the exact paths and the speed at which things move.

Other people may have more insight to share, but this has been my experience. Final Cut just wants to do all kind of “helpful” stuff when you start animating things. 😉
