    Use Ramp Effect white to black + Colorama Effect “Hue Shift” Preset, then animate Phase Shift.

    To attach a 2D null to a 3D light, add the following expression to the position value of the null:

    thisComp.layer("Light 1").toComp([0, 0, 0]);

    Assuming your light layer name is “Light 1”

  • It would probably be very easy to answer your question if you included a sample file where this problem occurs. You can make a simple setup that shows the problem in an AE+Element comp.

  • I take that to mean that Particular doesn’t work on a time-reversed layer for a reason. The likely reason being that Particular has a built-in Physics Time Factor that you can use to speed up or slow or reverse time.

  • Maybe you have snap to grid turned on and some grid setting that makes them behave strangely?

  • I opened the file in Illustrator CC2015, and they move the same speed for me on both 0.01 pixel and 1 pixel settings.

    If the files are numbered sequentially, you can simply bring them in to After Effects as an image sequence, AE will consider the set of images video footage.

    Tracking: You can track two of the peg holes and apply stabilization for position and rotation. It is very automated and fast, the main trick being getting a good tracking result.

    Cloning: This depends on what you want to clone out. If it is always in the same spot, it is very straightforward, essentially the same as in Photoshop, except that it will do the same cloning for all frames. It the parts you want to clone out are moving around, it will be somewhat more complex.

    I would first use Warp Stabilizer for smoothing the motion with relatively high settings and see how it looks even without any slowing down. Warp stabilizer may slow the apparent motion down enough so that it looks fine without actually having to slow down anything.

    If it turns out you actually need to slow down the end of the footage while keeping the beginning and end frames the same, you need to speed up something else, and this means time remapping. I would find a point where there is the least amount of motion and speed that part up, then slow down the end. Or you could speed up the entire beginning part and see if it works better. This depends mostly on what is happening in the footage. For example, if there are people doing something, it may become very apparent the footage is sped up or slowed down. Use pixel motion for frame blending.

    Element’s shadow mapping has a specific size; likely that is the edge of the shadow mapping area. You can turn up the size of the shadow map and/or scale down the model so you cover the entire area. Or you can use ray-traced shadows.
