Thank you! Yes, the ‘enersphere’ was made with a bunch of layers in Particular. It’s such a useful plugin when you delve into it deeply enough. Ha! The cop outfits had a bit of subconscious inspiration from Spaceballs but mainly they were designed in some specific ways because the fabric was bought, cut and sewed from scratch. My friends did an unbelievable job putting those together in a very short amount of time. Thanks for watching and thanks for the comments!

Apple has been successful many times in the past at simplifying things and making them more capable at the same time. I’m going to trust that they did this until I get it in my hands and see otherwise.

  • Like others have said it is a game of small increments at a certain point and better lenses will help at certain times a lot (mainly because they’re faster or have better IS) and certain times not at all.

One thing though is that confidence and contentment sometimes come with a craftsman having the perfect tools at his disposal. Like many things in life the feeling that comes with having “the best there is” in front of a client that may know a thing or two and is a little envious can be a great thing. Even if my lenses/camera/tripod/lights aren’t always as good as their pricetag I know I sometimes second guess myself less because I feel good about what I’m doing and what I’m doing it with.

IMO If it weren’t ARRI people would think this kind of overcranking capabilities in this day and age were a joke.

I think nowadays most people are so used to watching bad compression, youtube awfullness and improper anamorphic stretching that the general pubilc can almost never tell the difference between imagers of this quality.

Skintone is such a hard to identify thing sometimes with how different cameras handle it. It is almost always one of the most heated discussions too because it is so related to one’s taste and personal interpretations. I find that with my RED I change the skintone so much in post so quickly with the coloring process that what I captured on set is rarely as important as the minute differences that different cameras offer. And remember – there is an entire makeup industry that is designed to make the majority of someone’s face look identical, so it’s not always such a bad thing.

Thanks a lot for posting this Gunleik. I understand most all of why and how these tests turn out this way but I’m still puzzled as to why the halos around the exposed light bulb are so different. What a weird byproduct. I have to say I like the RED’s handling of it better though. Thanks!

Sounds like a great idea. No doubt Apple will do it some day though and claim that they thought of it.
