“out of Memory” errors when I try to render in FCS3
I keep getting “out of Memory” errors when I try to render in FCS3 on Snow Leopard. ProRes HQ timeline 1080P. I can limit the layers or effects and it goes away but it seems to be getting more and more restrictive. Any ideas?

Do you have any large stills in the timeline? A common problem when trying to render images with pixel aspects exceeding 4K is getting that error message.
Check the timeline and if necessary replace any files with excess pixels with reduced versions. Otherwise it may be a corrupt file. Try rendering small sections of the timeline and see if the error appears on particular clip.

restarting final cut helped. it seems like it was filling up some cache but I don’t really know what.

Do a search for ‘out of memory’ on here for previous answers I and others have given. It’s nothing to do with disk space or RAM – usually it denotes a bad project file, or render.
If it persists, the best cure is to work from a previous autosave.
