Alright well instead of doing everything in M2t format and then converting using $50 dollar software, I just went out a bought a nice new Firewire 400/800 card from a electronics store with a good return policy. Sure enough the capturing in FCP is now working. Thanks for all the help guys see around the forum.

Sorry for the delay response. So what happens when I open a normal HDV clip that is captured through FCP is it opens in quicktime direct to native 1440×1080 but when I open the clips out of clipwrap then quciktime default to 1920×1080. It isn’t till I bring them into FCP that they finally say 1440×1080.

Well unfortunately you can never truly have a legal copy of the OS installed through the Hackintosh way. I think I did see something that was actually a piece of hardware to plug in but required certain motherboards. It instead requires a modified install of the OS which was a ton of work to get going. But you do have a Mac Pro for around $1200. I think I will capture and covert m2t before I reformat that thing, its just too much time.

Nothing plugged in through firewire (except camera), only USB2.

Okay I am mistake, in quicktime it comes up as 1920×1080 but in final cut it opens as 1440×1080. Odd but it seems it will work.

Sorry to revive a old topic but I am running into a problem where my Final cut capturing ability is lost and I have to use m2t files and do a conversion. When I use clipwrap it does the fast repackage but some how makes the files HDV but 1920×1080. This software does not recode so am I loosing quality when this change happens?

Wow thanks for the quick response I went through that cache and deleted all the old updates but unfortunately no go with capturing. It seems very odd because I can see and control my camera but it is like it is getting a low data rate…but as I said earlier I can capture the m2t file no problem.

Again thanks for the response but this didn’t seem to work.
