    Hi Dave,

    – It does this whether or not Collapse Transformation and Quality are switched on
    – It happens whether or not the comp is nested or “preserve nested comps” is selected in comp settings
    – Happens whether there’s a null or not (not requiring 3D camera).
    – 3D is switched on for the layer.

    Weird! Thanks for any suggestions.

Whether I switch Continuously Rasterize / Collapse Transformations on or off, it’s still blurry. Totally loco!

Hi Dave, I get the same blurry image issue using vector files turned into 3D layers. No 3D camera needed, just a 3D null. I get this whether or not Quality & Collapse Transformations is switched on or not. My graphics are not pre-composed. Just Illustrator files with 3D switched on, attached to a 3D null. Thanks.

    Thanks Dave,

Files I normally receive are of the Animation, ProRes, etc. variety. The people who did this shoot are ace photographers, are breaking into video, left the fluorescent room lights on, and did not have access to a video monitor.

The only thing I can tell that happened to this footage prior to winding up in my hands is that it was shot with the Canon EOS 5D Mark II. From what I’ve read about this camera, it heavily compresses to h.26, is not ideal for keying in the first place, and the footage doesn’t play nice with the Mac. I didn’t have time to research prior to the shoot, and they would be using this camera regardless of what info I found. So, I’ll be masking and luma-matting my days away with this footage.

Anyone have any other info on this particular camera?

I’m having an issue with green screen footage shot using the Canon EOS 5D Mark II. The lighting is okay, but when I create a key, the combined matte / screen matte detail shows messy pixelated edges, blotchy hair detail, etc. I can’t get a clean key. Is this is happening because the 5D compresses heavily at h.264? I’m a seasoned chroma key gal, just not familiar with this camera / footage provided to me.

I’ve researched the 5D online and have seen medium shots keyed beautifully with 5D footage. The footage I’m working with is wide-shot, and is not keying well at all. It even looks blurry. Would the KeyerForDv plug-in help combat this HD issue?

    Thanks as always*

I’ve also found mixed reviews on whether or not the 5D was good for chroma keying. Any input?
