Hi, I work for Sony. There were a very small percentage of cameras that exhibited vignetting. We set up several optical benches through the US to adjust the lens.

If you suspect that your camera is affected by this issue, please call our Product Operational Support Center hotline at 1-800-883-6817, option 2-5-2, for advice on how to proceed. When calling, please be prepared to supply the camcorder

December 19, 2007 at 7:40 pm in reply to: HDCAM EX to QuickTIme Possible?

    Hi,

I work for Sony. Yes, it is possible to capture recorded data via the HDSDI. IN case of 24P recordings please note that the Ex1 always adds 3-2 pulldown when outputting 24p footage via the HDSDI. This is to allow monitoring with a wide array of displays. The NLE can remove 3-2 and extract the 24P cadence as the A frames always fall on the 0 and 5 frame. You can also capture EE (live video) via HDSDI. Please note that the EE signal is full HD resolution 1920×1080 or 1280×720 4:2:2, 10-bit.

    Hello,

I work for Sony. We shared the control protocol and connector information with Varizoom. They are developing a lens control option.

    Hi,

I work for Sony. No stills capture capability on the Ex1. However, if you shoot in 1080p HQ mode, each frame is a 2 mega pixel still. You can adjust the shutter angle to freeze the action.

    May 11, 2007 at 9:12 pm in reply to: F900 and SRW-1

I work for Sony; I will try to explain what the capabilities are. The F900 does not operate at 50P or 60P. As you stated, an HDC-1500 operating at 50P or 60P can feed an SRW-1. If the SRW-1 is equipped with the optional SRBK102 board, it is possible to invoke the Interval Recording mode for Over/Under cranking effects (at selectable interval frame rates). In addition, the newest SRW-1 firmware enables accelerating, decelerating and linear speed ramps. All of these features are part of something called SR Motion. The F23 provides additional functionality, including Select fps from 1 ~ 60 fps selectable in single frame increments. Best of all, SR Motion effects can be reviewed on the field without any special equipment.

Here is another suggestion. If you are shooting with an F950 and recording to an SRW1, you can take advantage of the frame accumulation mode. This function will allow the exposure to span over several frames (user selectable). In addition, Zeiss Digi-Prime lenses deliver full MTF at wide open, which will yield the high resolution necessary for your shot without sacrificing sensitivity.

In addition to some of the excellent recommendations posted, you may also want to experiment with the frame accumulation mode.

  • Yes, the SRW/SRPC-1 is a portable HDCAM SR deck capable of recording 1920 x 1080 progressive at frame rates spanning from one frame per second to sixty frames per second at 422 or 444 color resolutions. Furthermore, the HDC-1500 and SRW/SRPC-1 combo can also take advantage of SR Motion, a feature which among other thinngs allows recording accelerating, decelerating or linear variable frame rate speed ramps effects. You simply select beginning and ending frame rates as well as the curve type and duration. The pre-selected speed ramp is recorded each time two buttons on the SRW-1 remote are pressed simultaneously. Best of all, you can review the ramp effecs on the field without any special equipment.

The SR Motion feature requires the optional SRBK-102 memory board. Straight 60P recording does not require the option. This NAB I worked a technology suite dedicated to 60P live production where we showed spectacular footage from the Rio Carnival shot on an HDC-1500/SRW-1 system.

In a nutshell the HDW-790 is a new HDCAM camcorder aimed at the TV production market. Its design is based on the HDW-F900R with which it shares the tooling, signal processing and accessories/ functionality except for: no 24P, the European 1080 50i model supports 25P.
