Okay, I finally found the problem…geez. It was already mentioned but in vague.
Not only you need to have proper exchange plugin, which was first thought to be found here…
https://www.maxon.net/downloads/updates-co/updates/plugins.html
You have to update C4D here:
https://www.maxon.net/downloads/updates-co/updates/cinema-4d-r115.html
You cant just attain recent exchange plugin with these files…
=====[ Plugin for After Effects CS4 to CINEMA 4D R11.5 connection.
* For Windows/MAC OS (ZIP – approx. 110KB) – Download
Plugin for After Effects CS3 to CINEMA 4D <=R11 connection. Update Mar 3 2008: Import bug fixed. * For Windows/MAC OS (ZIP - approx. 111KB) - Download]======= So in order to get the most recent CINEMA4DAE.aex modified in February, without needing to update C4D in full, I made a media file below. https://www.mediafire.com/?nmeoodz44hj
I am not sure if you still need to update C4D from R11.5x to R11.530 in order for it to fully work. But would still try and get the most current CINEMA4DAE.aex at mediafire link provided.
I hope this helps and saves time. It was such a pain going through these headaches when it was just an update that was needed from R11.5x to R11.530 in order to get the CINEMA4DAE.aex update needed. Bill was absolutely correct but forgot to mention how to attain February modified aex file.
Best.

Okay, I am trying to figure this out. Everything works except when I attempt to save composite project file with “relative and Include 3D data” options checked, nothing is in the files.
If I omit those options, then I get my rendered sequences. How come I can not save the relative and 3D data with the AEC file export?
Makes no sense and I see GreyScaleGorilla tutorials easily have those options checked with ease of use.
Hints?
Much appreciated.

Make sure the
CINEMA4DAE
files are in
C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe After Effects CS3\Support Files\Plug-ins
as well as
C:\Program Files\MAXON\CINEMA 4D R11.5\Exchange Plugins\aftereffects\pc\CS3-CS4
If you are on PC. Now this worked for me right off the bat.
THOUGH, after I did another attempt of render passes of the same scene, now the new aec file will open but nothing is there! I dont know what happened but I spent 2 days rendering to only find the aec file wont even work. Nevertheless, these paths should work for you. I get no errors but I do get nothing out of my imported aec scene.
WEIRD! Works then it doesnt work.
Anyone went through this problem?

April 12, 2010 at 7:27 pm in reply to: Can Vegas 9 open and treat Vegas 7e veg. files? It was indeed a platinum movie studio version. I just saw a post stating that it wont work from 8 pro to a movie studio version. Only later versions for Pro would do the job of accepting such veg files. Man, your on top of it. You have good experience with Sony Vegas. Its nerve racking but I am going to install a trial version of 9 later on today.
I will post another question if I continue to have problems. Thanks for your time, it is much appreciated!
Again, thank you Mike.

April 12, 2010 at 6:56 am in reply to: Can Vegas 9 open and treat Vegas 7e veg. files? How come I cant open veg file from version 8 to vegas 9? Doesnt even recognize the file to be seen upon open prompt window. When you try to import it off a new project, I get an error while opening. Why is it giving me such a hard time? I restarted comp and renamed file to mymissing…blah blah.
Thanks ahead of time
