  • thanks for the pointers guys. i went ahead and did the video in FCP (@110% speed), then matched the final timing in SP. worked out very good…though a 10% speed increase is just about on the verge of sounding “funny”. looks like the guy just had an extra cup or two of coffee!

aha. never even heard about it. wouldn’t registering my software yield me info from Apple about stuff like that? oh well, only a week to go…

    hmmm….

    1) i looked in my iphoto library folders, and they are full of jpg images, but no avi’s, nor even the first frame of the avi’s.

  • trashing prefs was going to be my big piece of advice…but you did it. have you tried re-capturing or re-rendering the QT file (however it was made in the first place)? i’m guessing that file is corrupted and causing the crash.

personally, i never use QTs in DVD SP4, so i gave it a try after your post. the 3 files i tried imported fine and played back great off the menus in simulation mode, which makes me wonder why i (we?) don’t just use QTs more often when making DVDs. it seems like it would save one step of compression.

    any ideas?

hey, but thanks for the info. it is always good to know. also fyi on the avi’s…i did the hi-res one like i outlined above, sent it to client through cyberspace via “yousendit” (file was 223MB), they got it this morning and played it tonight at their conference. it looked great, they all loved it. life is good.

very cool! i never heard that one before. do you know if it re-compresses the file or degrades it any way? just wondering if i should convert them, then go back to the original version for final rendering and output? actually, after the initial warning screen to go to MM, it has worked just fine…but thanks for the tip!
