Understood, however, I did not shoot this. Once I find out what the final specs will be, I will let you know.

But, I still don’t understand how the footage is looking the way that it does in FCP. Is it because it’s taking the 960×720 and converting to 720×480 (16:9).

    Sequence file –

    Frame Size – 960×720
    Vid Rate – 23.98
    DVCPRO HD 720p60
    HD Pixel Aspect – (960×720)

    Quicktime Conversion –

    NTSC 720×480 16:9 or NTSC 720×486 16:9

both do not look right. What is wrong here?

We haven’t gotten that far yet. I’m doing this edit for another production company and once they approve the spots, then we will find out how it’s being delivered.

It’s such a pain all of these different formats and aspect ratios. I wish there was an easier solution for all of this.

Thanks for the info Shane, what do you suggest is the best way to export the file out of FCP while down converting it to NTSC for the station?

Awesome, I thought I was heading in the right direction. Thanks Michael, you are right, they don’t mention anything about creating two folders. Much appreciated!

Thanks for the info Andreas! I’ll give that a shot. Working in DVD Studio Pro, I noticed a “DVD-ROM” feature where I can select a folder and include data as well. I’m researching this information for a friend of mine, but it doesn’t hurt to know it myself for any projects down the road.

    Hey Andy,

I had the “Out of Memory” error as well recently and I couldn’t figure out what was causing it. I found your post, while recently adding some new photos to the timeline and one of the images was CMYK. I switched it to RGB and it works fine now.

Thanks for your notes, have a great day!

Come to find out the graphics that were done for this sequence were ProRes, so my editor created a sequence file for that graphic and then edited the rest of the show within that sequence. Thanks for the info!

Then there you go. Either recapture or convert. Converting might be faster. What were the originals? What format? HDV? Why were they captured as MPEG? That was the big mistake right there.

Originals were shot as 1080i Mini-DV HDV format, they were captured using a standard HDV preset for 1080i in Premiere Pro.
