  • Thanks Matt! It’s definitely helpful to know that Haali isn’t related to Vegas.

Knowing that, I’ll try to get rid of it. Haali seems to be part of K-Lite codec pack, which I installed a few months ago and forgot about. (and K-Lite is suspicious anyway – I could imagine it could be causing this kind of problem) I’ll remove K-Lite entirely and see if that helps.

    Much obliged,

  • wow, zero replies. bummer.

just for the record, I am using a workaround: load all videos in Edius, “Render” (which converts each one to some format that Vegas can manage), and edit in Vegas. Works like a charm.

  • just a quick update.

    1. I tried the Vegas Pro 32-bit. It’s just as unstable.

    2. I tried Edius 6. Rock-solid, no problems at all reading all the files Vegas failed at. (and WOW is it fast! zero lag. but I do miss Vegas!)

THANKS again for any suggestions of debugging.

Is there any point contacting Vegas support directly? I generally find most big company’s software support lines a waste of time. Maybe Vegas is different?

    cheers-
    -Josh
