  • Have you tried updating Sony Vegas or this happen randomly? A lot of random mishaps are corrected “magically” by just uninstalling/reinstalling Sony Vegas. Don’t know why but 85% of the time I can get back up and running after a clean install cycle.

Thanks Derek for the YT vids! I will be viewing those shortly! This will go great with the book Mike Thomas advised me to go purchase. I should be receiving my computer parts mid-next week and I will be on to building my computer shortly.

*A special thanks to Mike Thomas, Derek Moran, and everyone else who’s submitted advice; I’m trying to absorb everything suggested!*

    Here’s my setup:

Oh ok…gotcha! I think you’ve just convinced me to put together my workstation. I follow directions extremely well and I do feel confident in my abilities.

    THANKS!

(Once I purchase the components and have them up and running I will post pictures!)

    Hey Jeff,

Before I get my hopes up, could you change a few of the specs to match the quote I posted? I was hoping to have at least three HDs, one for the O/S and two others for raw files and rendering, respectively. I can do 500 gb on the O/S drive if you can give me 1TB drives for the other two.

Next, can you accomodate 16gb of ram? That’d be my dream setup to be able to access as much ram as I could afford. Plus, I’d love an internal USB 3.0 hub and internal SD/HC Card reader.

S/N: Do you prefer the GeForce GTX460 vs the GeForce GTX550 video card?

And how do you charge as far as labor? I saw you posted the “subtotal” so I was wondering what other fees I could be charged for.

If you’d like to contact me off the board, my email is killajayproductions@gmail.com. I appreciate your help Jeff as I solidify what I’m going to invest in.

Thanks Mike, Jeff, and Nigel for your suggestions! I really appreciate it! I did not expect so many helpful responses. I also got a quote (see below) from another wholesale computer store that my dad knew and I was wondering if this may be a better buy (price & quality-wise). It is about $150 bucks more but I believe the video card to be better suited for video editing and I opted for one 500GB drive for the O/S and two 1TB drives for storage of raw files and rendering (respectively). I am having trouble identifying the make of the motherboard (if anyone can assist me with this–is it MATX?)

I opted to not get an O/S on this build since I already have a 64-bit version of Windows 7 Pro and could install that myself…

    Thanks you all!

Ok, so the hard drives selected are not adequate? Or are you just suggesting the best possible drives for building a workstation?

Thanks Mike so much for your help!

  • No problem Al…I appreciate your help. Seems my laptop is inadequate to run Sony Vegas 10 so I’m on hiatus until I can get me fast workstation.

I feel like I’m disabled (no offense to those who are) because I need to finish my friend’s project but I do not have the time to render 3 min segments of a 30+ min clip and then combine those clips. It’d take me three weeks with my work schedule!

Are there any significant changes to 10.e that is worth updating? I just updated to 10.0d two days ago. 🙂

  • Well I look forward to that vid as well! If you don’t mind me asking, could you give me a quick description of what render settings you used in Sony Vegas? I ask because I am trying to render a recording of a church sermon and it is similar in length as the project you posted.

    Thanks,

    Joshua

  • Hey,

I really enjoyed the video. The recordings of the band on stage was amazing. Really great quality sir!

    *2 THUMBS UP!*
