Well, my guess is that your setup is mostly fine. But there are some things to bring your attention to.
IF you are Playing a DVD or an HDDVD, this will not work due to HDCP. Nothing you can do will make that work. It’s not supposed to.
IF you are playing a game and want to get some gameplay footage, then you should be okay. In this case my guess is that your software settings are not right.
Your input and output look right, but make sure that you don’t have any processing set. You don’t want to be “down converting”.
That being checked, then you will need to make sure whatever capture application you are using is setup right. You didn’t mention this, so I will assume you are using our Media Express application. If you are, make sure you are running both the latest version of our Intensity Drivers (3.6.4) and make sure you’ve installed Media Express 2.x (latest version 2.1 i believe) which is a separate download.
Once that’s done, then you will want to make sure the input settings of the app are right.
On Mac, click the Media Express -> Preferences and make sure that the input format is 720p59.94. This is also where you’d select the target location and compression type. Close the preferences window and re-click the capture tab. If that doesn’t work then try 720p60.
On Windows, click the Edit -> Preferences and make sure that the input format is 720p59.94. This is also where you’d select the target location and compression type. Close the preferences window and re-click the capture tab. If that doesn’t work then try 720p60.
If that’s still not working, i’d try another source (just as a sanity check to make sure the board is getting video). It’s worth saying we have an Xbox360 in our office and we use it to capture VIA HDMI all the time.
One more note. PLEASE make sure that you are not assuming the output of the Xbox360 is the resolution printed on the back of the game box. You need to set your output resolution manually by using the settings blade in your dashboard. So please make sure that is set for 720p60.
If that doesn’t work, then we probably need to troubleshoot a bit more, so give us a call and we can try to walk you through it.

1. Do they offer an SDK for C# programming?
A. Not currently, but my understanding is that it will be forthcoming. Not sure on the timeframe.2. Is there commands that can be sent to switch video sources through the Ethernet port?
A. My understanding is that you can use the same Telnet commands that can be sent to the other VideoHub products.3. How much control do I really have over the switch. Can I integrate my own software?
A. At this time I believe you can, but you’d have to use the telnet interface until we get the proper SDK out.Sincerely,

Hello there,
If officially if you need a response you should contact our office directly. We try to monitor this forum, but we can’t guarantee that every post will be answered.
That said, what I suspect is happening is that the firmware update is not happening prooperly or is more likely being stopped by UAC. There are a couple of ways to fix this.
You might want to check to see if the CheckVersionPCI.exe process is running in the process viewer to confirm. If it is, kill it then do one of the following.
One is that you can disable UAC on the computer which will allow the CheckVersionPCI.exe application to run.
Or you can go to the C:\Program Files(x86)\Blackmagic Design\Blackmagic Decklink\ folder and find the CheckVersionPCI.exe file and modify it so that it runs as an administrator (right click and select properties). You can also find this by running the MSConfig utility and clicking on Startup tab. There will be a listing for Blackmagic Firmware updater which will show you the path as well.
Then try to reboot and see if that helps.

July 9, 2010 at 6:46 pm in reply to: the DeckLink Studio can capture and playback at the same time?Unfortunately no it cannot. It is either in playback mode or capture mode at any given time. You can however use a second card in order to use the capture feature of one board and the playback side of the other.

July 7, 2010 at 12:27 am in reply to: Revisit multiple Decklink Intensity cards in Mac ProApparently one of the PM’s informed me that I was mistaken. And you can infact run two copies of Media Express with two cards and capture 2 streams (so long as your computer can handle it).

July 6, 2010 at 9:11 pm in reply to: Revisit multiple Decklink Intensity cards in Mac ProNewp..you cant do it with two instances of the same app. They will both look for the first card. They don’t have any logic to cascade cards tat are in use. If they did you would never be able to switch from one application to the next (like from FCP to Color).
So…it would have to be an application that actually has logic to detect more than one card. As I mentioned Softtron is one. And there are heaps of them out there, but mileage my vary.

July 6, 2010 at 8:34 pm in reply to: Driver Updates for Premiere Pro CS5 FunctionalityThe plugin’s are there, but you are correct. There support is going away. We will likely keep them in “as is” for a few more builds then they will not be there too.
If you are not seeing the settings in the project settings then that typically points to an install issue. There are a couple reasons for this.
1>Install order: If the Blackmagic software is installed BEFORE Premiere then it will create these types of problems. The BMD installer looks for the presence of CSx and intalls the files appropriately. If this is your situation the solution is simple. Uninstall the BMD drivers and restart and reinstall. That will put them in right for you.
2>Registry key mixup: This is a bit more tricky. This happens typically on systems when there are more than one version of CSx software. Say, you kept CS4 on the machine. Our installers use a registry key to determine the current version of CSx. It will locate a specific key and install to there. So most of the times when this is seen it’s because both CS4 and CS5 are seen and plugins only get installed into CS4. How do you fix? Well, BEST practice. Remove the older version of CSx and then uninstall and reinstall the BMD drivers. If you really want both installed then you will have to do as one customer suggested and go into the Blackmagic/Decklink/Drivers folder and you will see the premiere folder which will have the appropriate structure to copy the files into place. Please be aware that it is more than just presets and that all the files need to be copied into the right places. If it’s not done right, it won’t work.
I hope that helps.

July 6, 2010 at 8:26 pm in reply to: decklink studio 2: no video capture from s-video or composite?Edwin Dab said:
“Does anyone know if there is a firewire to hdmi cable or adapter?”Those don’t exist. At least not in a cable. Some company out there may have made a converter (it would require processing to decode the firewire signal to uncompressed) that could do that. but not strictly a cable.

Using FCP the Intensity can capture and playback from any of the YUV ProRes codecs. Though keep in mind the output will only be 8 bit (as the card only supports 8 bit). So that goes for capture as well (though internal processing will remain in 10 bit).
I think in our Media Express program it defaults to the HQ ProRes codec, but in FCP you can choose any of them (minus the RGB).
As for the Intensity only outputting YUV and if that’s a problem for you, I guess that all depends on what you are doing that would require RGB output. Sorry, that’s just vague. Maybe if you can let me know what you are doing I can tell you how it might effect you.

July 6, 2010 at 8:19 pm in reply to: Video signal gets interrupted when tabbing down Media ExpressWas just going to suggest that. It seems that the lastest versions of the software will run “unfocused”.
However, traditionally the focus was required in order to stop people from using other applications that could potentially be intensive and disrupt the capture process. So, if you are running other applications that are particularly hard on the hard drives (while capturing uncompressed) or hard on the CPU (which capturing compressed) you may find this will result in capturus interuptus.
