February 10, 2009 at 9:49 pm in reply to: I want Adjustment Layer to only effects certian layers?I do need to use the position properties on the solid layers to achieve my effect.
I am using the alpha channel from another comp on the adjustment layers to hide and reveal my solids. Putting the channel effect on the layer will not work correctly when I adjust the position of my solids.
I could achieve this by creating multiple track mats, however I was hoping to create a cleaner solution.
This is what my comp does …
(A) < when object A moves down the line wipes it away >
————-
(B) < when object B move up the line wipes it away >It’s looking like a “pre-comp” expression isn’t possible.
Thanks for looking. -
I should say that in this case I am not needing to rotate what so ever. I just need to push in and out and move around the grid in 3d space.
What I mean about line is this. I need the lines in the grid to keep the same pixel width as the camera pushes in and out of the grid. The space between the lines scale up and down as the camera pushes in and out, so it does change in pixel thickness.
I hope this makes more sense.
Thanks for looking.

That is IT!
Thanks man! I don’t know if there is an easier way to copy transform properties. But when I set keyframes and copy them onto the layer in the new comp it seems to work fine. Almost a 2 step process.
I appreciate it.

Thats really great. I must have missed that one. Thank you Dan.
But does something exist that you can apply to the property?
So say it can be applied to keyframes on positon OR rotation, rather than having one layer follow another. -
This will be easy you don’t need a bunch of comps. Do it the way google does.
Get a few photos gradually getting closer to you target. Scale them up quickly, fade between them, add motion blur, a little camera shake.Done.

Thanks thats a huge push in the right direction.

Now I have to figure out how to get this into my 3D app.
uhhh …. away I go.
Thanks again. -
