For those interested I spoke with BlackMagic and they confirmed that playback only supports uncompressed or DNxHD 220x.

Technician said a transcoder might be able to convert a ProRes file to DNxHD but didn’t want to guarantee it as all their testing had been done on files either recorded on the HyperDeck studio or used on an NLE where that format was native.

He also said that ProRes was the 2nd most popular codec request after DNxHD, but it wasn’t very high up in their priorities.

Thanks, but I believe the Teradek includes mandatory encoding (which we don’t want) and also only allows the connection of one modem.

Further search for bonded solutions led to the Peplink Max. It is $2000 and can bond up to 7 internet connections. It requires an additional peplink balance router which costs around $1400. The closest thing I have found so far.

I’m having the exact same issue.

Bought a Lenovo K330 this afternoon to do some live streaming but it and the Decklink SDI card don’t seem to be compatible.

    Lenovo K330
    Decklink SDI card
    BlackMagic 8.2.0.0
    Removed all extraneous PCI devices
    Firmware doesn’t update
Media Express opens but doesn’t display anything

  • I have a 500GB G-Raid Firewire800 drive. I hadn’t been using it as I have ample space on my 500GB internal drive.

Why is using an external drive recommened?

  • Thank you for the reply. You comment:

I think you’ll probably see best results exporting a movie at Current Settings onto your external drive, then going to H.264 through Compressor. In Compressor you should exporting to a either a different external drive or your internal drive for best performance.

I am currently using my internal HDD as the scratch disk – no external drive is used anywhere in my workflow. Will using an external firewire as you suggest speed up conversion times?

Is it generally advisable to always use an external drive as the scratch disk?

    Thank you.

I think it is gonna be a case of:
editing the 60p footage in a 30p timeline
media managing into a new project and recapturing only the relevant clips
Duplicating the .movs of this project .
Conforming the duplicates to 30 fps.
    Importing the duplicates.
Using in the 30p timeline where appropriate.

    My word.

    Thanks again.
