I was referring to both, in that the panels are not only configurable, but also buttons for functions can added or removed, thus making the GUI configurable to a certain degree as well. As to the overall UI look of the PPro software, it’s clean enough to not bother me, and from a design standpoint, I find it easy on the eyes. I also use enough keyboard shortcuts (DOS guy) that clearing out some of the buttons is a good thing.

It sounds as if you’ve recreated the file by now. For future reference, you can get back a deleted file – here’s a quick explanation why: when you delete a file, nothing is really thrown away; the system just substitutes a question mark (?) for the first letter of the filename. This means that unless you’ve done a lot of saving, and the location of the deleted file on your hard drive has been written over, it’s likely the file is actually still there. And there’s a free utility called Recuva which will let you find and recover the deleted file:

It’s a free plugin from Video Copilot called Saber. Although it was initially planned for light saber effects, the number of presets for other types of effects is astonishing! And it doesn’t take long to get the hang of it.

You’ll get a laugh out of this one: I was art director at an ABC affiliate in NH for many years. Our sister station in Massachusetts (WCVB) announced, and it was touted in a number of trade publications, that they had come up with a way to make their After Effects and Premiere output capable of just what was discussed above. They had partnered with a tech firm in the Boston area, who, surely enough, had found a way to do this. They spent God knows how much money to do it, and it ultimately proved to be much more expensive than the hardware and software they were using. They now use the Adobe Suite for what it was meant – a creative graphics production tool.

While it’s not free, Camtasia is pretty much the best screen capture tool for the PC side. You don’t say whether your captures need to show an interface in motion, with moving cursors, etc.; Camtasia does that and a whole lot more:
