Hi Alex –
So it appears that you have to have all of the video-centric software installed to get the full video functionality of Bridge? Unless I misunderstood your statement: “Bridge Prompted me to add a bunch of modules: PPro, After Effects…”. By “add modules” you mean install the software, correct?
So were these the full versions of PPro and AE you installed, and that cured the Bridge problem, or were they trials? I’m asking because I have yet to take the plunge into CC, but own the CS6 Master Collection, but am using Bridge CC on my desktop machine, and need it to review files. Thanks.

I would suggest that you output a “master” file in an uncompressed format, and then encode your delivery formats using Adobe Media Encoder. I use the Quicktime Animation codec at full resolution, no alpha, then that goes to AME.
I haven’t run across your problem, but I also haven’t directly output compressed formats from PPro either. It’s worth a try. You might want to try outputting just the problem section as described above – that will give you a quicker answer than outputting the whole project.

Since I don’t have your project, I can’t show you a specific example of a light, but you should be able to figure that out. I would suggest a Spot Light, because you can control the beam width and where it falls on your background elements. Play around with the color, Cone Angle, and Feather until it looks good to you. One way to keep the turbochargers in there (if you really want them) is to change the lighting on them. Give them that deep blue high-tech lighting with a couple of comp lights, and save the hero lighting for the titles. You might get better control over this by putting the turbochargers on a separate layer, and also maybe using depth of field to kick them down a little bit more. This would also give you a much deeper look to the 3D, which looks a bit flat right now.

Just to give you another possible route, I recently purchased a refurbished HP Z800, with 4TB of storage, 48GB of RAM, and an older NVidia 1GB graphics card for $1300 from this guy:
He buys pallets of these machines off lease, then refurbs them and resells them. I spoke to the guy on the phone, and had nothing but good dealings when I purchased mine. It had no OS, and I also bought an SSD for the OS (Win 7 Ultimate). I don’t think you could configure a new machine for anywhere near that cheap, but I may be wrong. Also, the one thing I absolutely love about the Z800 is that it has a totally tool-less chassis. You can tear it right down to the motherboard with no tools! It has sleds for up to four internal hard drives, and you can buy all sorts of cards and parts for it pretty inexpensively. Mine has been up and running for four months or so, and it’s a screamer!
