I had this issue as well. I found that the phantom audio was attached to a specific video clip by deactivating each clip in my storyline one at a time with “v”. When I found the right clip, deactivating it removed the phantom audio. When I “expanded audio/video” on this clip, which was 3 clips to the left from the phantom audio, the audio track showed up. somehow it had gotten slid over from the video and it was not visible because it was still attached to the original video clip yet not synched.
