Just a friendly reminder that the demo of the iPi Soft Mocap technology is tonight at 6:30 at the Showbiz Cafe on 21st Street between 5th and 6th by Michael Nikonov (who’s come all the way from Russia). Come on down if you’re in NY. (See Eventbrite link above).

    Best,

    Joe.

Thank you. Yes, it’s a heck of a machine. It’s great for production and post. 3D rendering, video editing, etc.

The machine in the review has 35GB in it, but you can put in up to 512GB (if you can afford it!)

It’s also got USB 3.0 on it which is super fast The Mac Pro unfortunately does not.

I find that USB drives are cheap and fast enough to use for high definition video editing.

    Cheers,

    Joe.

Thank you for all of your help. I will check it out and let you know if I have any questions.

    Best regards.

  • Wow, again.

That is a really good tip. I tried the QT reference and it works great. For now it will do, and I will keep in mind what you said about backing up.

I will definately download automatic duck and use it in the future if I need to.

    Thanks!

  • Wow. That is really smart. I think I will try to export a Quicktime Reference in that case! Looking forward to try this.

    Thanks for your help!

  • Shane,

Thanks for all of your valuable help, I appreciate it.

I did what you said, and dragged the mxf files into the Avid MediaFiles>MXF>1 folder. I then ran the Media Tool and it was listed in the list.

From the media tool window, I dragged it into a bin and voila. Thanks! Couldn’t find anything called msmFMID.dba, however. Where is that? Or if it isn’t necessary, it doesn’t really matter.

The only thing I have to do now if figure out how to get it out of the Avid and into After Effects without losing quality. Any clue?

    Thanks again for your help!

  • Hi. I just have to figure out how to do it. (I just got Avid MC6).

  • These files were generated by Blackmagic capture hardware from a camera that has an option to write directly in DNxHD (or uncompressed quicktime).

The Blackmagic capture hardware just writes it to the DNxHD MXf format. It didn’t come from an Avid system.

It sounds like the only way I can do it is by creating that directory structure above in order to bring it into the Avid.
