Thanks Jeremy,
If you try to understand everything in this business, you might end up not doing what you got into it for in the first place. So the best solution is the first one…
In capturing there seems to be no problem, as I wrote to Ken up above, it’s in printing to video.
All the best,

Many thanks Ken,
I have to say that I had to read you message several times to be able to grasp it.
As I wrote to Jeremy, my setup is an aja SD io connected, for video, via component and for audio, via a mixer, to a DVcam VCR (Sony 45). Cables are of different lengths. The io is fire wired to the G5.
I stay all the time in DVcam and I use it just as if it’s Betacam SP and it works just fine.
I’ve tried to take a couple of frames in the Capture Offset, of the Device Control Preset, in the Audio Video Settings Menu but, all it does is to add or take a couple of frames on the counter but image and sound stay in quite good sync, just the same.
All this it’s in terms of capturing.
Is when printing to video (because I’ve never been able to do any Edit to Video Too dumb!) when the displacement takes place. It’s just one frame (delay). But, since I know of it I seem to notice it.
Must grateful

Many thanks Jeremy,
I must confess that your solution is not very elegant but it does the job.

Until I find a better way, I’ll do as you say.
Thanks again.

Hi there,
I’ve been doing what Jeremy suggested, marking ins and outs at the beginning and end of tapes, with good results. But also allowing as much free hard drive space as possible that 10%, as Gary explained.
I bought my suite with a 465 GB (2X 2?? drives that work as one) SATA hard drive from Promax in 2004. This year I bought two extra 465 GB Hitachi drives from them.
They work as separate drives (so I have 3 465 GB drives). The new ones duplicate files. But just the folders, one is empty and the other one has the clips.
It makes sense what Gary says about rendering in to one drive and capturing to another. What would be a good way to make the most out this system?
Many thanks,

Hi Gary,
90 GB is a lot of space. I never thought you needed that much. Could that be the reason for the long delay? I’ll give it a try today.
Do you mean, if I set up the disk drives myself? Many thanks.

It happens when I hit escape. The colored spinning wheel stays on for nearly 20 min. But today it din’t happen for first two takes.
How much free space should I leave for a 465 GB hard drive? I have 3. I think I haven’t arrange then well.
Thanks for your time.

Thanks, anyway.
The only way I’ve found around this problem is to process video in RGB. I have no idea why. All the best.

Hello Bob,
I’ve setup capture settings (in the compressor, digitalizer and input of the QuickTime settings) from 10 bit uncompressed to 8 bit uncompressed.
Also I
