If I have a Quantum LTO drive, HP tapes would be better for it than Quantum branded tapes?

The only thing you need to do is to go about your archive as usual.
Once you are ready to go, when you hit the button a menu will come up asking whether you are appending (adding) or overwriting. Choose overwriting and whatever existed on that tape before will be gone.
