Irrani,
What are you constantly trying to pitch? Obviously you have some iSCSI based system you want to sell… All your posts are “forum hijackers” for some sales end. I hope that you at least advertise on this site. You do realize this site isn’t just a place for you to fish leads right?

oh… gotcha, “las” is from Spanish making it’s way into more of a spanglish posting.
What SAN are you planning on using?

March 3, 2010 at 11:58 pm in reply to: Shared Storage Newb – Help with Final Cut optionsWith any basic edit station build out, all you need to tell an integrator is the following information:
-Number of edit bays working at the same time
-Take that number and multiply it by 3 for number of streams of
video at any given time by one edit bay.
-Maximum compression and frame size you expect to work with on each edit bay.
-Total space needed on the Volume at max work time.
-Approximate value you hope to spend to accomplish this task.If you have this solidified you will nail your solution on the first call to an integrator.

I can’t remember what posting or site it was on, but somebody just talked about this exact setup. It requires that you turn an initiator to a target. Apparently ATTO makes this driver or software, but it is not available to the general public.
i.e. what you want to do won’t happen “out of the box.”

With the advent of FCoE on the horizon… it’s going to really blur.

January 29, 2010 at 2:32 am in reply to: Promise Vtrak Eclass Final Cut Studio 3 Compatibilitystorage is storage, it sits behind your fibre channel host adapter. FCP should have no effect on that. however if you were changing operating systems to meet any requirements of FCP studio 3, then yes, you could have compatibility issues. Do I know if they have any issues with different operating systems, no. But their tech support should.

You would really want to have a professional come in and set this up for you, and to look at how your raid is configured. A professional SAN integrator would be able to tell you if everything was optimized or not, and get things moving correctly. And yes, a FC switch is definitely recommended.

in a typical scenario, the fibre channel raid should show up as at least one un-initialized disk in disk utility. From there it is up to you to put the file system on it… HFS+, etc…
With a decent length fibre cable you should be good to go, and plenty of speed. (at least 500MB/s)
