Thanks guys I get the idea…just think of Events as Projects not Reels…would you put the tape number in the ‘Notes’ as not to use precious keyword shortcuts?

    Thanks,
    Jon.

    Hi Tim

Thanks, have done this…however I am using HD in a SD timeline (specifically for resizing and cropping features) and at the moment says 100% for a HD clip in a SD timeline (in FCP 7 it would say 53.3%). Wondering if this has something to do with the proxy size – 960×540 vs 1920×1080.

    Cheers,

July 20, 2011 at 2:18 am in reply to: Dear Apple – Is there an Audio Master Bus?

[Timothy Payton] “Apple could just make a few tweaks such as having a true channel mixer and not require to make a compound clip but instead mark the audio to a channel/bus, and then I think FCPX could do 95% of the audio sweetening that I normally send to ProTools/Soundtrack/Logic.”

I agree – which was my point. The only thing is with the compound clip – say if you were doing a fast mix for client approval then decide to do the audio in Protools – you would have to undo all the compound clips to give handles for the OMF or you would have to save a copy in another timeline. Also you can have big reverbs or delays that extend past clip boundaries wouldn’t be a problem any more. I think it’s justifiable to add this feature due the demise of Soundtrack Pro.

Can you see the audio waveform in compound clips Andrew? – this is the reason I didn’t nest in FCP7.

[Bob Zelin] “No hardware support for AJA, Blackmagic, Matrox, or MOTU

Not true – there is a work around for AJA with extended desktop. This will come…

[Bob Zelin] No support of Apple XSAN”

Maybe you want to talk to this guy:

“I hear on the COW FCPX projects won’t be read on an ethernet SAN?
Not true – it took my SAN vendor about 5 minutes and a couple of lines of code to get this working”.

[Chris Kenny] ” the engine’s color space is so large that nothing ever clips in its internal numerical representation.”

Does this mean there is a clipper/broadcast safe always in line? If so, this is a big bonus!

[Stephan Walfridsson] ” each project has one (1) timeline only, or in other words each timeline is it’s own project.”

How does it handle different cuts? It HAS to have that ability!

[Shane Ross] “It’s not a scam”

A joke Shane, A joke. Or possibly insider trading and politics. Sounds like you’re not happy either.
Its like who in the real world consults for Apple to make sure these ESSENTIALS aren’t missing?
Obviously not you from your tone.
My vote is that you should be!!
Then Apple can release a flawless product that defies all competition. Then we can create beautiful films and television programs going home with a big smile on our dial.
