Check your latest email. How Newegg can offer the Areca 1223X card for $549.00 I don’t know, but that’s the way to go.

He emailed us & is considering the H680 from ATTO (see my reply above). It’s a cheaper way to do it, if he doesn’t mind going JBOD.

I just replied to your email to sales@proavio.com. The ATTO H680 is half the price of the R680 as it isn’t a RAID card, it’s a path-through JBOD card. Instead of a single volume showing on your desktop, you’ll have several volumes showing on your desktop, (as many as the amount of drives in the enclosure).

We had another customer with the same issue, with the same card whom we suggested contact Areca & they were able to work the issue through. I’ve consulted with our technicians here & they agree that would be your best bet. The Areca 1680 card you have is also quite old & that could be the issue.

We talked earlier today. A “larger” direct attached system is offered, other than what we discussed, starting at 16TB, see my previous post on the IS316JS in this thread. a 16TB system starts at $6450.00, which is the 16 bay 3U rackmount chassis populated with 16 – 1TB drives and an Areca 1882X card. Formatted in your RAID level of choice & burned in & tested in Mac OSX.

Sounds good…should you ever want to get more speed the newer EB800MS with the 6G backplane would do the trick. We’re clocking normal read/writes at 1000MB/s in RAID 5
