Hi Simon,
The simplest way to get the shadows you want is to build the 3D room inside of Invigorator and use Invig’s lights and shadows. You can then use Lux or T-Beam to create the appearance of a volumentric spotlight.
Alternately, you can enable AE’s shadow casting/receiving on the light, the receiving layers (floor and walls) and turn the layer to which you’ve applied Invigorator into a 3D layer and enable shadow casting. This will work, but your camera move may break the illusion of the Invig object being a 3D object in the rest of the 3D world you’re creating. This will happen if the Invig layer does not maintain its orientation to the camera.

What about bump maps troubles you? The general idea is that bump maps use grayscale data to fake bumps or other imperfections in surfaces. In the material editor, double click the large thumbnail next to bump maps and choose the image you want to use. Use the slider to determine how strong you want the bump map to be and be sure the material you’re editing has been or will be applied to the object.

It sounds like you’re wanting a black border or edge behind your logo. If you want them to move together, the simplest way is to use an edge that creates this kind of shape or make a custom bevel to do it.

When you change the lighting or shadow options, in the set-up area, you need to click the little sun icon below the scene preview window for the changes to affect your scene.
To apply an image to an object, use the texture editor…. either create a new material or modify one that’s there. Select the image by clicking on the appropriate thumbnail… a normal material, transparency, bump or reflection map. When you click the thumbnail, you’ll navigate to your image… normally a tga format.
You can to the sane with layermaps, but it’s a slightly different process.

One correction to my original post… I wrote layer mapping… I meant layer cycling. I don’t think anyone was confused, but these are two very different techniques.

Hi Julian,
You’re getting there. Assuming you’re applying an image map to the entire bottle, to get the labels and the “frozen” white color, you’ll need to build a transparency map and apply it to the transparency channel. Make a black and white image that’s like the image you’re using now… the black areas of the image are transparent… the white are opaque.. that’s where your labels should be. Any grayscale parts of the image would be semi transparent.
If you’ve done that, the original material will show through the transparent parts of the image map. That original material should be one of the basic glass materials, perhaps with a different reflection map.

Did you render fields or frames? (interlaced video can look bad on your computer – worse on a monitor if the field order is wrong). Check your import settings for field order, fps, etc.

You can get something like that, but you’ll have to fake the refraction in your example with reflection maps.
