Depending on how you set up the Illustrator file, you may need to use the reload or replace buttons… if the roof and chimney are part of the same Illustrator file. Your choice depends on whether the Illustrator document is set up with layers or not.
It would probably be simpler to create a new illustrator document with the roof and chimney.

Hello atleditor,
You’ll need to either use some primatives or more illustrator shapes to create the objects you need in Invigorator. you could make an upside down “V” shape for the roof and use the depth tool to determine how far the ridgeline goes. The only trick is that you should add these new objects to the set containing the video wall objects, if you want the objects to be grouped together for animation purposes.

Hi Micah Ginn,
You can use a sphere primative for all of those round objects. Search the web for planet texture maps and you’ll find some free sites as well as some pay sites. I’ve found some for a variety of balls as well as planets. You can certainly buy textures meant for spheres and hemispheres as well.
And I should mention Serge’s excellent series of Invigorator projects which include a lot of high-quality objects.

Hi Dups303,
Are you using reflection maps?

Hi Jase,
Agreed on that score. With the CS3 Suites and Sunday’s Apple announcements, I can now make a very compelling case for getting a new Mactel machine.

Hi Jase,
It’s probably a two-part question… first, which version of Invig are you trying? Older classic versions probably won’t. Current versions might… if Adobe has enabled AE to recognize, serialize and use third party plug-ins and if you did a clean install.
I haven’t had a chance to try it… maybe others here have.

My guess is that you may be in the wrong mode. For example, click the red ball to get to the set up area. There, you’ll find icons on the left for camera, lighting and object mode. If you’ve selected any mode other than object, the object manipulation tools on the right won’t move the objects in your scene. The other point – you have to select the object in order for the tools to have an effect on it. Select the object by clicking on it in the window, or by using the object pop-up menu. (Hold down the shift key and you can select multiple objects using the pop-up. For me, this is sometimes easier, when objects are hidden by eachother.
Does this help?

Alan,
Any chance you’ll have some news at NAB about an AE plug-in version of pi?
Thinking wishfully,

Click the red ball below the scene preview window to get to the set up window. In object mode, select the letters and use the move tool to move them toward the camera in the Z direction. When the objects are initially created, they’re at the same Z position. Do this initial work before you put the elements into different sets and start animating the sets.
Does this help?
