Cheers guys for some very helpful tips.

About to get kick started on a 3 hours long conference edit with a 3 camera setup. 2 of the cameras have matching timecode with no tape changes, then theres the culpret a third camera without matching timecode, and 3 tape changes.

Once the captures finish I will get started.

I used the Techsmith codec when capturing with Camtasia.

The codecs you’ve listed are the one’s I have tried converting the Camtasia (techsmith codec) avis into and then reimported into AFX.

With each different codec, deinterlaced and interlaced the probelm still happens, after a few minutes the videos freeze, seems like it is connected with the RAM, the rest of the comps work fine, animations, other video assets not from Camtasia all work fine. If I purge the memory the camtasia files work for a few minutes again, When I try to render they work for part of the render process then seize up again…

Found a slow workaround turning the Camtasia avis into a PNG sequence.

Be good to know a proper fix.

    Cheers Jon

    Same problem here.
On a Mac Pro 8 core.
    6Gb Ram
    Using CS3 – full legit copy…thanks to my Boss’s.

Turned on Multi Processing – gonna turn it off now as my computer is acting worse than before….

Tried QT Animation, H264, JPEG, all froze after time. H264 froze straight away.

    Now trying AVI’s instead..

USE ‘MPEG STREAMCLIP’ free to download can convert to tonnes of formats.

Will post here if I ever fix it.
