    Good afternoon peeps
This is one very frustrating problem.
I’m using a Mac Pro with 8 cores, with 6gb of RAM, and an official copy of After Effects CS3.

I have used Camtasia to capture some live website videos.
Which are not your normal video size.

When I import them into AFX they work fine for about 3 minutes, then freeze and wont play through anymore, all the still images, camera movements etc etc all stay play through fine.

    I have tried numerous codecs.
    Quicktime Photo JPEG, Animation, H264,
    AVIs PHOTO JPEG.

I’ve managed one successful export but have to reboot computer, load afx don’t preview anything and just export straight away…soon after they freeze.

A similar thing happens with normal video dimensions, with the video freezing. But I can get round that by turning them into AVI DV PAL files at 720 x 576, and they seem to work fine.

I used the Techsmith codec when capturing with Camtasia.

The codecs you’ve listed are the one’s I have tried converting the Camtasia (techsmith codec) avis into and then reimported into AFX.

With each different codec, deinterlaced and interlaced the probelm still happens, after a few minutes the videos freeze, seems like it is connected with the RAM, the rest of the comps work fine, animations, other video assets not from Camtasia all work fine. If I purge the memory the camtasia files work for a few minutes again, When I try to render they work for part of the render process then seize up again…

Found a slow workaround turning the Camtasia avis into a PNG sequence.

Be good to know a proper fix.

    Cheers Jon
