  • Looks like there may be something weird in one of your filenames such as a foreign character.

I don’t think Apple would add code in the OS to disable certain functions on an EOL application. There’s no reason for this.

It might be worth filing a bug report here along with your screenshots:

Could this be a somewhat sly move on Apple’s part of effectively trying to force people into a tapeless workflow by omitting these items from the File menu?

Or could it be bugs / glitches to do with Mountain Lion’s first Dev Preview?”

It looks like a bug because the contents of the Send To submenu have for some reason overwritten the menu items at the bottom of the File menu. If you click one of these does it launch those functions as normal?

  • Kevin, I’d be happy to send you or another Adobe employee the technical details if that would help.

  • No, it’s probably easier to use Pacifist to extract the files from the DVD:

Remember to install the latest Motion 4 updates after installing.

  • Yep, these are Motion 5 related. Maybe they’re conflicting with the FCS 3 installer so I’d recommend navigating to /var/db/receipts (use the Go > Go To Folder function in Finder because it’s a hidden folder) and then moving those files to your desktop.

  • This type of thing can often be caused by receipt files. Can you let me know the results of the following Terminal command:

    ls /var/db/receipts

There’s only one FCS Remover and Apple has never officially endorsed it (although it is often unofficially recommended by its support staff) so it does not ship on any Apple-sanctioned DVD.

Only pirated copies of Final Cut Studio ship with FCS Remover.
