I’m not sure what your problem with the upper field lower field is. Have you tried importing it into the project? If there is a problem there. Fix it in there by reversing the field order in clip settings in timeline.
Why does it need to be quicktime. There is more to this story. Give us the whole picture.

This might seem like a silly question… are you working in an interlaced timeline? that’s gonna render any changes to the original footage to make it interlaced. So a fade would then become interlaced.
Maybe open it in a new Progressive project and see what it looks like then.

Audio Mixing/Effects are professional.
Best effects quality. PPro has basic stuff, but not enough for a professional mix. No NLE does. They are NLEs not Audio specialist programs.
Soundbooth is based on Audition, but not got a multi-track editing/mixing/BUSrouting 5.1 surround sound mixing in an uncompressed WAV format.
Look it up. well worth the spend – which isn’t much really.

Hi Carla,
I’d first do a quick test then use this workaround.Test and Work around:
1. Set the work area using the alt+[ and alt+] keys to have some to the good audio the bad and then the good again.
2. Export>Audio> WAV
3. Import that and listen to it. If it is clean then you should Export and import the whole Audio and check it.
Use this exported only audio as your audio in the SVCD author.– Jon 🙂

You can use ASIO devices withing Premiere ProCS3 and Audition. Premiere needs you to point to the ASIO device in the Preference settings.
However, I’d only use the Premiere recording functions as proxy audio for the edit to know where to roughly cut and get timings.
I do all my proper recording and cleaning/mixing in Audition 3 (PC only).
The files are then exported as WAV with the Audition Edit Original embedded in the WAV clip used in Premiere Pro. If there is a need for a clean up or effect i’ll edit original and render over the original.

Sorry mate welcome to HDV. This is the standard thing with HDV capture.
You should be able to see it while scrubbing, but during capture…nope.

what is the workflow you are wanting… any text only file system will only refer to files that aren’t there. You would need to capture them again or relink them.

CMX EDL is only used for offline edit to online recapture. So it will always import all the edit decisions and offline clips that will be recaptured in the online high quality format based on the clips timecode and tape name (reel) info.
AAF will export/import your clips as a whole online format.

This situation can be solved a couple of ways.
Because the footage was ingested into the computer upperfield it is going to have to be that way. unless it’s actually doing weird things in the edit. in which case the clip can have the fields reversed inside FCP.
However if the problem isn’t actually occuring in FCP with the upperfield first because that’s the way the motion is working (reversing field order makes it jumpy) – then leave it.
If you do need, i mean you’ve tested this in FCP and the clips are so long you don’t want to fix them in FCP and you really need to send out the field order in a different way.
1. you need to right click the clip in the timeline, goto field settings and hit reverse. this will make the order reversed.
Then export with the lower field setting and you should be on easy street. Without seeing this in person I can’t be certain it actually will need the field re-ordering. Unless it causes issues in FCP. It all comes back to the captured order, flipping it will make it weird. FCP should be able to switch field order with an effect. Done it plenty.– Jon 🙂

I have been cutting on my laptop for ages and it does handle the p2 footage no probs either. 4 gig of ram is massive. You’ll have lots of fun with this setup.
The screen resolution does not matter. Ignore the message on install. It will and does work! I have working proof.
